The original Blade film trilogy starred Wesley Snipes was in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Moreover, they were R-rated films, so it will be quite interesting to see if Disney’s MCU goes for a version like that. We previously witness the R-rated Deadpool 2 returns to theatres as PG-13 Christmas movie, “Once Upon a Deadpool”. The movie didn’t do justice to the original Deadpool franchise.

The Oscar-winning actor has been one of Hollywood’s hottest stars of the past few years, winning Academy Awards for both Moonlight (2016) and The Green Book (2018).

The actor was already a part of Marvels’ starring in Luke Cage TV series as Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes. He even voiced for the Sony’s “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse” character Miles Morales’ Uncle Aaron.

Marvel reacquired the rights to the Blade character, as well as Ghost Rider and the Punisher back in 2013. Marvel didn’t release any additional details regarding Blade when we’ll see him back in action nor what form, whether it will be series like Luke Cage or a feature film. There are certainly plenty of opportunities for both in the coming years.
