DC came back with the strong message to the arch rivals Marvel with the JOKER. Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for the most anticipated movies of the year Joker, its upcoming origin story for the classic Batman antagonist. Actor Joaquin Phoenix plays the main character, while Todd Phillips done the direction.

The trailer shows the Joaquin Phoneix as Arthur struggling on hard times as a clown who want to make people laughter from the city of Gotham. He`s bullied, humiliated, beaten up on the streets. He says “Is it just me, or is it getting crazier out there?” after he tormented.

We witness some of his madness and mental struggle and he concludes with the words, “I used to think that, my life was a tragedy. But now I realize, it`s a comedy”.

Joaquin Phoenix as Joker

In the end we see the our craziest villain in the classic costume.

Last year James Wan gave up a boost to the DC movies with a whooping box office hit, Aquaman. Warner Bros. struggled hard to stand up with the DC movies against Marvel. Apart from Wonder Woman and Aquaman, other movies including Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad fails to rule the box office.

Will Shazam make the DC to go strong? We have to wait and watch since it is releasing this month. Well Warner Bros. Joker teaser trailer looks promising.

Phoenix is the latest in a long line of actors to take on the Joker character, including Heath Ledger in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, Jared Leto in Suicide Squad, and Cameron Monaghan in the television series Gotham.

Phoenix had previously declined to act in the Marvel Cinematic Universe because he would have been required to play the roles he was offered, like the Hulk and Doctor Strange, in multiple films.

Apart from Phoenix other stars are Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Bill Camp, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Douglas Hodge, Marc Maron, Josh Pais, and Shea Whigham.

In August 2017, Warner Bros. and DC Films revealed plans for a Joker film separate from the DCEU, with Todd Phillips directing and co-writing with Scott Silver, and Martin Scorsese co-producing with Phillips. The script draws inspiration from Scorsese’s films Taxi DriverRaging Bull, and The King of Comedy,[ as well as Alan Moore and Brian Bolland’s graphic novel Batman: The Killing Joke.

Joker will hit theaters on October 4th, 2019.
