Natalie Portman will be playing the female Thor announced Thor 4 director Taika Waititi. She played Jane Foster in the first two Thor movies.
During Marvel’s Cinematic Universe panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, Taika Waititi took the stage to announce that Thor 4 will officially be called, Thor: Love and Thunder. He was joined on-stage along with Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson. When talking about her character Valkyrie’s role as ruler of New Asgard in the film, Thompson said, “first she needs to find her queen.”
Also, Marvel Studios in twitter released the Thor: Love and Thunder poster along with the tweet, “Just announced in Hall H at #SDCC, Marvel Studios’ THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER with Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, and Natalie Portman. Taika Waititi returns as director. In theaters November 5, 2021.”
Waititi was reading one storyline by Jason Aron called The Mighty Thor, the next Thor movie will be based on. “That storyline is incredible is full emotion, love, and thunder and introduces for the first time female Thor,” said Waititi.
Natalie Portman, who was not seen after the second movie of the Thor series made a brief re-appearance in Endgame. Portman took the stage with the rest of the Love and Thunder cast with Mjolnir in hand.
After Avengers: Endgame, we see Thor joins the Guardians of the Galaxy as they embark on a search for Gamora. With new Asgard set in Scandinavian cove and Valkyrie leading them as king, Thor finding his adventures as he wishes. It is not clear whether he’ll appear in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 movie or if his next movie will be Thor 4.
Thor: Love and Thunder will be in theaters on Nov. 5, 2021.
